Do You Know Kevin?

Thought you'd be encouraged by this:
This morning at our congregation's prayer meeting I was asked to lead the prayer..at.one part I asked G-d to send us someone today that we could share of His goodness...actually I remember stating "it would be a divine contact from Him." Do you know Kevin?

Well at a gas station in Humble I got approached by a young man holding a gas can..."if I'd help fill his gas can?"  As I'm filling it we're talking and Kevin (his name) was in a pickle..over the past year lost his wife to another guy, lost his business, lost both parents and was homeless...driving some beat up car...hoping to be accepted in a shelter in Humble that night...had stayed there in recent past so wasn't sure if they'd accept him again...after a bit I told Kevin that it's no accident he was at this gas station..."Today I prayed that God would send someone in my path to share of His goodness"..that statement struck like a thunderbolt and .he wept. Immediately the presence of the Lord was upon us.

Kevin had known the Lord but after losing so much his hope was extinguished..Some where in the conversation I said, "kevin, could life get any worse?"  He thought, "well I could lose my legs." then I said, "so then you're having a pretty good day...(still got both legs)." The way it came out we both laughed and he said he hadn't laughed in a long time.  G-d really made those 6 minutes together special for both of us...
I reminded him that "everyone else might have left you down, but God won't...you gotta keep looking on him not man...start talking to Him and know His voice versus the voice of destruction." We prayed and I believe he at least had "hope" restored for that time being...hopefully longer than that...
Anyhow...it was a special time for just a gas station stop...When he first approached me I felt my mind go into "oh not another begger." ( I actually have met more than my share at gas stations)...." then I got that gentle reminder of the prayer I prayed 5 hours earlier...as usual the person G-d sends "is not usually the "type" we'd expect"...

I know we've each had similar experiences many times...but since this was from our group prayer I thought I'd share it and uplift us all...
You now know Kevin.

*In both the Jewish and Christian traditions, the name of G-d is treated with honor and respect.  In the Jewish tradition, in order to show respect, the name of the L-rd is written without a vowel.  The idea is that if a document with His name on it is destroyed or deleted, His name will be spared because it was not written out fully.
